Madagascan Periwinkle (Malikuruvaa) Madagascar periwinkle or catharanthus roseusis is a evergreen perennial , which has opposite glossy leaves about 2-3" long, borne on fairly rigid stems. The five-petaled flowers are typically rose pink, but among the many cultivars are those with pink, red, purple and white flowers. The flowers are tubular, with a slender corolla tube about an inch long that expands to about an inch and a half across. It's a great groundcover due to its very glossy leaves and long period of bloom. A broken stem of Madagascar periwinkle exudes a milky latex sap. You will see a lot of these flowers in Sun Island.
