 Fauna..
    The seas surrounding Maldives has an exotic kingdom of marine life. Inestimable species of possibly all colors, shapes, and sizes - from 47-meter-long whale sharks to microscopic plankton, from gentle hawksbill turtle to stunning beautiful yet deadly scorpion fish can be found in the ocean. in Sun Island apart from regular reef fish you'll be able to find baby black-tipped sharks, black spotted stingrays and brown stingrays. Compared to the large biodiversity of aquatic and plant life around Sun Island, fauna is limited. The varieties of fauna includes; White-breasted maldivian waterhen, grey herons, crows, Asian koels, fruit bats, lizards and geckos.

       
Asian Koel (Koveli)
Eudynamis scolopaceus or Asian Koel is also commonly found in the Maldives. The Koel is 39 to 46 cm in length, and it comes from cuckoo family. Adults are rather shy and hey are heard much more than seen. However, you'll see a lot of them in Sun Island gardens...
