Black - Tipped Reef Shark (Falhu
Miyaru)
The Reef shark is the familiar name for about ten diverse species of
sharks that are all found in warm oceans. The reef shark is in a
grayish-blue color, and darker in color than most other sharks. This shark
is quite small and is not considered a dangerous shark. The Black-Tipped
Reef Shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) has a black tip on its dorsal fin.
These sharks grow to be about five feet in length when grown. They like low
waters around reefs and they will sometimes jump over shallow coral. Baby
black tip sharks are often seen on the Reef. They often eat small fish but
they are also known to eat water snakes most likely found in the reef. Reef
Sharks are not considered to be dangerous. They prefer to live in clear
shallow waters.
