We are pleased to welcome you to our beautiful Holiday Island! We hope that the following information will help you in getting familiar with our hotel, its services and facilities.

Introduction
Opened on 1st September 1994, owned by Villa shipping and Trading Company Private Limited. Villa hotels comprises of four other islands; Fun Island (Bodufinolhu), Paradise Island Resort & Spa (Ex.Lankanfinolhu), Sun island Resort & Spa (Nalaguraidhoo) and Royal Island Resort & Spa (Horubadhoo).

Location
Holiday Island is located on the tip of South Ari-Atoll, just 97km from Male International Airport, approximately 35 minute by air or two and half hour ride by fast boat. The length of the island is approximately 700m, while its width is approximately 140m.

The design for Holiday Island reveals a grouping of low-rise rectangular shaped individual bungalows joined by covered walkways. The main complex is surrounded by landscaped gardens amidst tropical vegetation and crystal clear sea, thus offering the visitor an enchanting view of undulating greens interspersed with azure sea. The word "Dhiffushi" is a dhivehi word meaning "long uninhabited island".

The interior of hotel reflects modernization with heavy usage of modern amenities, antique furniture and paintings by local artists.

Accommodation

All 142 deluxe rooms have individually controlled air-conditioning, private bath with hot water and cold water supply, bath tub, bidet, hair dryer, ceiling fan, telephones in the room and bathroom, mini bar, and colour television with cable network plus round the clock news via satellite. For your kind information, the hotel has 220V-240V A/C 50Hz in all sockets inside your room. We advise you not to drink water inside your bathrooms and taps, since its desalinated water. Remember that any breakage or damages to items provided in your room will be charged to your bill.

Room Cleaning
Every occupied room is prepared twice daily in order to meet hygienic demands. Should the customer require more cleaning, it could be arranged through the rooms division. The linen and towels in the room are changed once in every three days unless otherwise it is required to do so. It is not allowed to remove any items from the room, especially linen, mattress and cushions, as to prevent damages.
It is strictly prohibited to remove any linen, cushions and furniture from rooms for any reason. If you are found doing so, you will be fined.

Laundry service
The hotel provides Laundry service to its customers on chargeable basis. Marked laundry bags are placed inside the room, so that the customer could use them should there is any clothes to be washed or ironed. Please remember to fill the laundry form and send it to the laundry along with clothes every time you require the service.

Front desk
Opens for 24 hours. Wakes up calls are registered on request. If you have any questions or concerns for more information regarding the hotel and its facilities, please feel free to contact the front desk. Letters plus post cards may be posted in the lobby mailbox. Photocopying, typing and other secretarial services can be arranged through the reception

Telephone and Facsimile (Fax)
From rooms to room calls, please dial "8" followed by the room number. For international calls please dial "9" followed by the access code (00), country code, area code, (without 0) and telephone number. For operator assistance, please dial zero (0). Should you wish to send a fax or e-mail, kindly contact front desk!
* Please note that the seconds added to the minute will be counted as a minute!

Cashiering
The cashiering department is opened between 0800hrs-1200hrs and between 1330hrs until 2200hrs, for encashment and settlement of accounts. Safety deposit facilities will be available free of charge during opening hour. Please keep all your valuables locked, as the hotel will not be responsible for any loss or damages.

Bills from all sections will be changed in United Sates Dollar. Travelers Cheques, Visa and Master Card, American Express Credit Cards will be accepted for payment. Euro Cheques will not be accepted! Exchange of Internationally known currencies and Travelers Cheques are limited to US$100 (maximum per day per person). Credit Cards will not be accepted in exchange for cash.

Credit Facility

From the time of Check-in, you may use the credit facilities by signing bills for extras in all outlets of the hotel until your credit is closed. Credit facilities will be closed and advised to you in written one day in advance to your departure. Credit limit for all accepted credit cards is US$ 1000.00 per card. If you wish to settle your bills by Credit Card exceeding US$ 1000.00, please contact cashier 24 hours prior to settlement time.

Souvenir Shop
All shops are located near the lobby to meet your needs. In the Souvenir shop, a large variety of Souvenir items, post cards and stamps are available. A vast collection of Jewellery items can be found from our Jewellery shop to give your dears a beautiful gift. Through our photo shop, your films can be developed and printed so that your memorable moments can be seen in photographs.

Doctors Clinic
You may visit the Doctor in the opening hours for consultation, should you need to see the Doctor urgently please contact the reception.

Food outlets
Main Restaurant features Western and Oriental Cuisine, buffet style, during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is served between 0730-0930hrs, lunch between 1230-1400hrs and dinner is served between 1930-2100hrs. You are advised to wear a casual dress when attending the restaurant.

Coffee Shop serves varieties of a la' Carte meals and drinks round the clock. It also provides you the room service 24 hours a day. A room service menu is placed in your room, should you wish to go for the room service at any time. In addition, there are Lobster parties, seafood dinners and BBQ of fresh sea fish to be arranged upon your request. Reservations can be made at the Coffee Shop. Moreover, various types of Ice Creams, Cappuccinos and Espressos are available.

Beverage outlets
We have three bar outlets with an entire range of liquors to suit your every mood and fancy.
Main bar  is opened round the clock. During happy hour time (1830hrs-1930hrs) there will be 25% discount off from all cocktails with free snacks.
Karaoke bar opens at 2130hrs if there is no special event in the main bar.
Beach bar is located near by water sports centre in a beautiful spot so that you may enjoy the natural beauty of the island while you are enjoying your drinks. Otherwise you may enjoy a cocktail while the Sunsets! Beach bar is opened between 0930hrs to 1230hrs and 1400hrs to 1800hrs every day.

Excursions
Full Day Excursion  - provides you a chance to see three different islands; A resort, an inhabited island and an uninhabited island. In this guided tour, you will have a chance to swim, snorkel and suntan near by a virgin island followed by a delicious BBQ. In the fishing village, you may also enjoy some shopping and see few historical places, which have been brought to your era, since our ancestors. Moreover, a local hotel of different style to be treasured.

Half-day excursion - due to the Maldives being a chain of many islands divided into different Atolls, we arrange a special trip to take you one of these islands and a resort within this Atoll. Walk through the unique culture, grand sites and meet the very unique and simple life of islanders. Buy some souvenirs and carry the simple, but beautiful memory back to home! The biggest problem visiting these islands is that it is never easy leaving the island. The islands' beauty is breathtaking and it is tempting to spend more time than permitted. Respectable attire is required for visiting all inhabited islands. The tour will also take you to a selected hotel within this Atoll.

Fishing - from the lagoon and surrounding area is totally prohibited. However, we are able to offer you special fishing trips.

Morning fishing - Takes you to the open waters ensuring further exploration of fish. Boat captain takes you to the different locations where you may enjoy good catch. The fishing industry did not realize the mechanized vessels until recently. The rowing and sailing boats have been used for centuries for fishing, ensuring that the daily catch was very much limited. However, nowadays the majority of fishermen around and a handful of others come in from distance for fishing in this area. This small amount of boat traffic is thankfully insufficient to spoil the good diversity of marine life. You will be provided BBQ out of your catch at the Coffee Shop Terrace.

Half-day fishing - If you want to try real fishing, rest assured that this is the best trip to get started. Just keep in mind that there are several elements to the enjoyment of fishing, waterman ship and knowledge of underwater knowledge, physical condition and use of correct equipment. The best time to drop your hook to catch a bigger fish is early hours of the day when fishes come across the oceans looking for their food in a very hungry mood. Different types of Sharks Blue and Black Marlin, Southern Blue Fin Tuna, Skip Jack and Yellow Fin Tuna, Queensland Spanish Mackerel, Sail Fish, Wahoo and Barracuda are among most catch of the trip. That's not all! You also will be provided BBQ out of your catch, if you catch any.

Night fishing - Catch a fish before you loose the Sun! The boat captain will take you to a good location where he has experienced good catch. Night fishing is the easiest way of experiencing how to catch fish. Barracudas, Red and White Snappers, Small Tooth Grouper, Blue Fin Jack and Bulls Eyes are among the most catch. Your boat crew will provide you the fishing gear and therefore, you need not carry them with you. Call one of the crews, should you need any assistance on board. Enjoy the BBQ of your own catch! Even if you did not catch any fish, still the BBQ will be provided at 2200hrs on the Sundeck, if the weather permits. Otherwise inside the Coffee Shop.

Land based Sports
Billiard/Snooker room is opened between 0830hrs to 2300hrs. Children below 12 years of age are not permitted to play.

Table Tennis, for rackets and balls please contact the Front Desk. To get Badminton rackets and balls, please contact Gymnasium. Every afternoon from 1630hrs onwards, volley ball games are conducted on the front beach volley court. The floodlit Tennis Court is situated near the restaurant, for booking please contact the Front Desk. Except floodlit Tennis all above sports facilities are free of charge.
Please wear regulation Tennis Shoes during playing.

Gymnasium
This is the perfect place to keep fit with a magnificent array of equipment for exercises and work outs, including Sauna and Steam Bath which will help your tense muscles after a long day, and it is free of charge.

Live music / Weekly entertainment
A live band, a DJ, Maldivian cultural show, (Boduberu) and Table are some of the entertainment available in the main bar for our guests.

Water based sports; Villa Diving Center, Blue Sea Water Sports
Wide ranges of Water Sports facilities are available on Holiday Island. We have a fully equipped Diving Center and Water Sports Centre to satisfy your needs. Several diving courses including Scuba diving are available in the Island. For more information and rental of Fins, Masks and Snorkels please contact Villa Diving Center. Other water sports like Windsurfing, water-skiing, parasailing, Banana Boat riding, canoeing etc. are available at the Blue Sea Water Sports. For more information on over-water sports, please contact Blue Sea Water Sports.

Snorkeling
The hotel provides snorkeling trips on chargeable basis to different locations within this area. However, you may rent the equipment from the diving center and snorkel around the island at any time as you wish. To participate in the chargeable trips, please make reservations at the Reception.

To protect our fragile environment from this generation to the next, the following activities are totally prohibited not only by the hotel, but also at the national level.

*Removal of Corals and Shells etc. from the water weather it is dead or live.
*Stepping, touching and walking on the reef or the corals.
*Catching fish by any means on the lagoon of Holiday Island as well as other islands.
*Removing or touching any type of sea creature.
*Swimming away more than 50 meters from the boat.

 

Swim to neighboring islands
It is strictly prohibited to visit neighboring islands by swimming, as we have to get permission prior to the visit. Besides, there is a very high sea current in between islands and consequently, it is not a good idea to do so.

Sun
Because of the intensity of the Sun at the Equator, it is requested that you use a high factor Sunscreen. Even on a cloudy day you will get burnt very quickly. Sunburn creams and sprays are available in the souvenir shop.

Environment
Please do not throw any rubbish into the sea. Help us to keep this very last Paradise clean and tidy with its natural beauty.

Checkout time
We wish you didn't have to leave at all but if you must, please remember that our checkout time is 12 noon. Please be sure to make arrangements with the office if you wish to stay over or if your departure will be delayed. Otherwise you will be charge for an extra day.
